Move In/Out Checklist

General Areas (Living Room, Hallways, Bedrooms)

1. Surfaces & Fixtures

   • Dust and wipe down all surfaces, including shelves, furniture, and decorative items.
   • Clean and disinfect light switches, outlets, and doorknobs.
   • Clean baseboards, crown moldings, and door frames.
   • Polish furniture and wooden surfaces.
   • Clean ceiling fans and light fixtures.
     (Move-In/Move-Out: May need to address dust or dirt that has accumulated due to the transition.)

2. Floors

   • Vacuum carpets and rugs, including under furniture.
   • Sweep and mop hard floors.
   • Move-Out: Ensure no debris is left behind, especially in corners or edges where dust may collect.
   • Move-In: Pay extra attention to floors, ensuring no signs of previous tenants (e.g., cleaning marks, pet hair).

3. Windows & Mirrors

   • Wash windows, window sills, and tracks.
   • Dust and clean blinds or wash curtains.
   • Clean mirrors with streak-free glass cleaner.
   • Move-Out: Clean any cobwebs or dirt left in window sills and tracks.

Kitchen

1. Appliances

   • Deep clean the interior and exterior of the oven and microwave.
   • Clean refrigerator shelves, drawers, and door seals.
   • Wipe down the dishwasher, including the gasket and filter.
   • Move-Out: Empty and clean the refrigerator/freezer. Ensure there are no leftovers from previous tenants.
   • Move-In: Check for any food remnants or signs of use in appliances and clean thoroughly.

2. Cabinets & Drawers

   • Empty, wipe down, and clean the interiors and exteriors of cabinets and drawers.
   • Move-Out: Ensure cabinets are completely emptied and cleaned to remove any remnants.
   • Move-In: Clean the inside of cabinets before moving in any items.

3. Surfaces

   • Scrub and disinfect countertops and backsplash.
   • Sanitize sinks and faucets.
   • Move-Out: Scrub all surfaces and remove any food stains, sticky residue, or dirt.

4. Floor & Trash

• Sweep, vacuum, and mop kitchen floors.
• Empty and disinfect trash bins.
• Move-Out: Make sure all trash has been removed and dispose of any leftover items in bins.

Bathrooms

1. Toilet & Shower

   • Scrub and disinfect the toilet, including the base and behind it.
   • Clean and descale showerheads and faucets.
   • Scrub tiles, grout, and bathtub/shower walls.
   • Move-Out: Ensure no soap scum, grime, or old products are left behind.
   • Move-In: Clean all surfaces thoroughly and ensure the bathroom is completely sanitized.

2. Vanity & Mirrors

   • Wipe down countertops and sinks.
   • Clean and shine mirrors.
   • Move-Out: Wipe down mirrors and fixtures to remove any marks or fingerprints.

3. Storage & Fixtures

   • Wipe down cabinets and drawers.
   • Sanitize light switches, handles, and knobs.
   • Move-In: Clean all drawers and cabinets thoroughly before moving personal items in.

4. Floor & Trash

• Sweep and mop the floor, paying attention to corners.
• Empty and sanitize trash cans.
• Move-Out: Be thorough in clearing any personal items left behind, including cleaning around toilet bases and sink areas.
